syntax is one of the branches of linguistics that studies rules that determine how words form phrases and phrases to form sentences. Etymologically the term syntax is to put words together into groups of words or sentences and groups of words into sentences. There are two parts of the sentence that are very important in analyzing syntax, namely: phrases and clauses.
What is a Phrase ?
Phrases are a group of words that have a function as a unit
in a sentence (a group of words that make up a grammatical unit). Phrases are divided into several, namely;
1. Noun Phrase : example ,
2. Verb Phrase : example , He late everyday.
3. Adjective Phrase : example , Tony lost his briefcase.

What is a Clause ?
Free clause is a free clause contained in a compound sentence. Clause are divided into several, namely;
1. Independent Clause
A free clause is a clause that has a complete structure and has the potential to be a major sentence.
2. Bounded Clause (Dependent Clause)
Bounded clauses are clauses that have an incomplete structure, usually accompanied by elements of subordinate conjunction.
